Back in time 3: 16th January 2012

Harald arriving on Open16 FIPOFIX in Palm Beach, FL; USA

It was 16th January 2012, when my son Harald left the Marina of Gijón, Spain 🇪🇸, to sail the project “proof of principle” on bord of our first Volcanic-Fiber-Prototype ⛵🌋, the Open16 FIPOFIX.

The goal was to confirm our new material concept for the first time under extreme conditions 🌬🌊 and, of course to set some sailing records.

Singlehanded, without assistance and nonstop arrived Harald the entrance of Palm Beach, Florida, USA 🇺🇸 after unbelievable hard 87 days, 0 hours, and 50 minutes 👍✅.

A first record was set on this boat size: nonstop from Europe to America, from continent to continent 🌎; our Open16 showed his strength 💪⛵! I visited Harald to help him with the preparations for the second leg, the northern route from Palm Beach back to Les Sables d’Olonne, France.
