Norbert Sedlacek surfing on his Open60 nauticsport kapsch during Vendée Globe 2008/09

It is 15th March 2009 when I, after 126 days, 5 hours, 31 minutes and 56 seconds at sea successfully cross the finish line of the Vendée Globe 2008/09 ⛵✅🥳.

An indescribable feeling 😍🙏 after more than 20 years of personal development as a professional skipper, an overwhelming feeling 🤩 as the first German-speaking skipper to successfully finish the Vendée Globe, being welcomed as a hero 🎉👏.

This Vendée Globe which, dominated by heavy weather conditions ⛈🌊🌬, caused 19 of 30 skippers to retire from the race and therefore also went down in the history of this unique sailing regatta ⛵🌍 non-stop around the world, alone and without outside help.

Finally, this experience is not only unforgettable, this incredible race should become a turning point ⤴🆕 in my life, not only from a sporting point of view, but also in terms of my nautical orientation 🧭.
