The Cape Horn Award…🏆

Gottfried Rieser and Norbert Sedlacek, with the challenge cup from the Cape Horn award in his hands, behind a rather big globe

is one of the highest honours a sailor can receive, which is why I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have received this award last weekend from Bobby Schenk, the founder of this award, and Kirsten Neuschäfer.

The award ceremony took place at Germany’s oldest sailing club, DHH as part of Bobby Schenk’s 19th Blue Water Seminar.

Gottfried Rieser, Commodore of the Yacht Club Austria, gave a speech about my sailing career, and this, like the presentation of the challenge cup by Kirsten Neuschäfer, will remain in my memory forever! 🙏

For a few minutes, my sailing career, my successes, but also the many hard days when you fight as an ‘underdog’ against seemingly insurmountable tasks, flashed before my eyes.

Thank you very much for allowing me to enjoy this moment and ‘fair winds’ to all water sports enthusiasts,

Yours, Norbert Sedlacek
